Bosco System Tuition Policy

Policy Adopted: 9/9/2003
Bosco System Board of Education

  1. Parents or guardians who enroll their students in the Bosco System shall complete an annual tuition contract. The completed contract must be on file in the school office prior to the student's first day of attendance each school year. The tuition contract is to be signed by at least one parent or guardian of the student, and, if applicable, the student.
  2. A tuition assistance program sponsored by the consolidated/corporation parishes is available to registered members of those parishes that qualify. Parents or guardians must complete the necessary application form by April 15 of each year.
  3. Changes in payment schedules on tuition contracts may be made but only written modifications shall be effective and binding on the parties. All changes are subject to the approval of the Bosco System Board of Education. The Board delegates its approval authority to the principals of the school.
  4. When an account is delinquent 30 days, the parents or guardians shall be notified of the delinquency, in writing, by the school business office.
  5. When an account is delinquent 90 days and no arrangements have been made on that account, the parents or guardians shall be advised of that fact by the school principal in writing on school letterhead. This letter is to contain language that indicates that the account is delinquent 90 days. In addition, it should point out the previous notification of the delinquency and should request the party to take immediate steps to correct the delinquency in order to avoid future enrollment difficulties or further collection procedures.
  6. No student shall be enrolled in the Bosco System (Immaculate Conception/St. Joseph or Don Bosco High School) when an account is delinquent from any previous semesters or years unless arrangements are made with the building principal. These arrangements must be in writing and are to indicate a payment schedule to be followed to reduce any delinquency.
  7. The Bosco System reserves the right to refuse enrollment of any student or family if they are found to be delinquent in payments to an other school unless Bosco System is shown proof of a payment schedule.
  8. The Bosco System will pursue the collection of delinquent accounts. Collection agencies and small claims court are options for the school to use. Action of this nature will not start on an account without the approval of the Bosco System Board of Education.
  9. Any family with children attending the Bosco System Schools (Immaculate Conception/St. Joseph or Don Bosco High School) who becomes delinquent in payment of tuition for any semester previous to the current semester, in an amount equal to or greater than one semester's tuition, shall either enter into a plan known as a "Tuition Payment Plan" with the Bosco System School, or withdraw their children from enrollment. The "Tuition Payment Plan" shall include the following terms: (1) that current tuition be paid on a monthly basis, and (2) that all delinquent tuition be paid in installments in an amount of at least 5% of the family's outstanding delinquent tuition owed at the time of entering into the plan. In the event the family fails to meet the monthly obligations of the plan, no child/children of the family will be allowed to attend the Boco System School in a subsequent quarter unless all deliquent tuition is paid in full.
